What if you don’t make decisions the way you think you do?

What if the decision is made, and then we become aware of it.

Recently, I’ve noticed people don’t always make decisions in the way they think they do.

It looks like they are deciding. They’re talking about it, they’re weighing pros and cons. They’re hesitating. They’re doubting themselves. But ultimately, The decision has already been made, They’re just convincing themselves of it. Building courage. Building momentum. There’s nothing wrong with this! We are made of many parts, each with their own job to do to keep us safe and well. Sometimes we need to go back and forth a few times and make lists to get everyone inside us working together. That’s ok. There are some things in life that require lists, criteria, and research.

But ultimately, a lot of things we do don’t have an inherent logic other than the deepest urge of our soul. Sometimes the reasons come later with that famous 20/20 hindsight. And we say, “oh! It’s a good thing that I did this (random thing) at this (specific time).”

The key is to discover what real clarity feels like to you.

The peace, stillness, and sound of being in tune. For some of us, it’s a bolt out of the blue. For others, it’s in letting their emotions settle over time. Some people don’t know until they hear themselves say it.

What have you noticed for yourself?

As a coach, one of the things that lights me up is helping my clients identify their own unique way of making decisions and watching them gradually come to trust that process in themselves. If this sounds like something you’d like support with, you can learn more here.
