rich soil
burnout basics coaching package
For people who feel depleted at a base level and are ready to compost their experiences into something that nourishes them again.
What do you do when resting isn’t enough anymore?
When your inner battery never seems to charge beyond 30%… no matter how many episodes of law and order you binge. You feel like you’re always borrowing from tomorrow to make today close out. Maybe you’re one text message away from telling everyone to go away forever.
It’s time to stop bed rotting and start composting.
Rich Soil is an 8-session coaching program to help you rebuild strength after burnout. We're not going to add more to your to do list. We're going to figure out what's draining your resources, and start returning some of that energy to the system instead of extracting everything you have (like you’ve been taught to do at work and school).
Over four months, you'll build a map of your own burnout — what's actually causing it, what's keeping it going, and what changes you can realistically make. Not a generic checklist. A specific map of your experience.
And you'll have someone in your corner who's been through the upheaval of deconstructing a life that doesn’t fit, who won't flinch at what you find, and won't tell you to just set better limits (although boundaries may be part of the picture. They usually are.) We’ll make a plan, prioritize, and let go of a whole lot of expectations and misfit standards you didn’t even know you had.
What you get:
8 sessions over 4 months with a certified trauma-informed burnout coach
A structured container that asks very little of you to self-direct (since your capacity for decisions is part of what's compromised).
A burnout map built from your specific experiences (not a generic checklist)
A holistic perspective. Burnout is about more than just work
Help prioritizing and deciding what changes are possible from where you are, and with the energy you have
Permission and support for actually slowing down (not just numbing out) and starting the recovery process not just the rest phase
A plan for recovery beyond our work together
The skills to recover from future burnouts (it can happen! Life is unpredictable)
Not included:
Diagnosis
Individualistic world view
Life hacks. Caring for your body is a big part of the picture, but I’m not going to tell you that cold plunges will solve all your problems.
Have hit a breaking point. Maybe you’ve even done something about it, like take leave from work or school, or made a big change in your life. Now you're wondering how to build a life that doesn’t break you.
Have been called gifted. A high achiever. The person who held it together. That person feels very far away right now.
Are measuring yourself against your best days and coming up short half the time
Are still showing up, but you're borrowing from tomorrow to do it
Can’t figure out where all your energy is going, and you don’t know how to start solving the problem
Aren’t sure you're burned out in the 'classic' sense — you still love parts of your life — but something is off
Are a sensitive, neurodivergent, or highly perceptive person who has spent years adapting to systems that weren't built for you, and the price of masking is getting heavy
Want support that can hold the complexity of living in a hyper connected world in crisis, while also helping you make space to grow and recover.
Rich Soil is for you if you:
How it works:
8 sessions, 60 minutes each, across 4 months
Biweekly rhythm by default. Can be closer together if needed in early weeks
Burnout mapping intake: a visual stressor inventory to orient the work from session one (not a diagnostic tool — a map of what's taking up bandwidth)
The inner permaculture framework as the arc across sessions. You'll understand the terrain you're in
A structured container with low demand on you to self-direct
We do the work together in real time. No homework, unless you get excited about an adaptation you want to implement.

Imagine…
you land somewhere you’re completely held. Where the natural way your mind and body work isn't a problem to solve, but a foundation to build on. Imagine if rest didn’t feel like falling into an endless pit. If you had a road map, and a friendly hand to hold. If you could actually enjoy the downtime you need in order to repair instead of beating yourself up for not being productive.
And imagine if, the next time life asked too much of you, you knew exactly what to do to fill your cup again.
“Annalee’s use of metaphors and visual thinking encouraged me to be creative with imagery myself.
I feel like every part of me was accepted and welcomed.”

THIS WORK IS BASED IN A LOT OF LIVED EXPERIENCE
I've burned out more times than I can count, and in more ways than most people expect burnout to look.
From working too hard and too fast in a field I love. From working at the wrong pace in the wrong job entirely (bore-out is real and it's just as depleting). From giving too much in the right relationships and staying too long in the wrong ones. From taking a calculated risk and having circumstances push me well beyond what I had budgeted for. And from managing a chronic illness that lists burnout as a predictable, well-documented side effect of doing everything right (yayyyyyyyy).
I've also spent thirteen years in rooms where the stakes were high and the work was human. Graphic recording with Indigenous Nations, federal governments, health authorities, and organizations doing the hard work of changing how they operate. That work is a masterclass in pattern recognition. You see enough people and systems under pressure, you start to understand burnout not as a personal failure but as a predictable outcome of a mismatch between how a person actually works and what they're being asked to do.
I'm not afraid of burnout anymore. I know what it costs me, what fills me back up, and what I’ve needed to change to regain a healthy balance of exertion and rest. I've built a life that works with my rhythms and my wild and spicy mind instead of against them (and I'm still learning, still composting).
That's what I'm here to help you do.

Take that seriously! Sometimes in order to get the rest we need to recover we need to make some changes and stop some of the energy leaks. This program is designed for that. Not for adding more things to your to-do list. But only you can decide if that’s what your situation requires. You might genuinely not have the resources to do coaching of any kind.Simply not working on yourself in anyway might be what you need right now. But if that feels impossible or too hard to settle into, you might need some support to do nothing. I’ve seen it before and there’s nothing wrong with that either.
So check in and be honest with yourself about what feels like the right fit for you right now. -
Firstly, if you’ve genuinely tried everything (mindfulness, rest, movement, therapy, deconstructing internalized productivity culture) it’s important to rule out biomechanical/medical factors. AKA: check with a doctor, naturopath or qualified healer of the body with access to diagnositic testing and tools. There are a lot of things that can cause physical exhaustion. Perimenopause, depression, sleep apnea, chronic illness, thyroid issues (to name just a few). Coaching isn’t a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis.
If we’re looking beyond the body, sometimes we “try everything” with the same perfectionism that is driving the burnout in the first place. It might not be about trying something new, but trying something old in a new way. That’s definitely something we can and will address. -
I can’t promise you transformation. I can promise you a map, a thinking partner, a framework for naming your experiences, and an understanding and experienced shoulder to lean on.
-
Take your time and don’t rush the decisions. I don’t push urgency and I want you to make the best decision for you. Like with anything, there is a cost to not addressing burnout. If you’ve made it this far down the page it sounds like burnout might be something worth looking at. Whether you do that with me or with someone else, or on your own using resources, I hope you give yourself that care.
I do offer payment plans and 2 sliding scale spots. -
Can you? Yes. I’m sure you can. You are a creative and resourceful person.
Should you? Well that’s up to you. You certainly don’t have to. There is nothing wrong with needing or wanting help and you deserve care and support. Humans are social and relational. We don’t really do anything completely on our own. Even if you don’t choose to work with me I hope you find some supportive people to surround yourself with and learn from. -
The commitment is 60 minutes every two weeks for a total of 8 sessions. We can meet every week instead if you like. Other than the initial intake form there is no homework.
What we “get done” in that time will vary because no two people’s burnout experiences are exactly the same. We might cover a lot of ground or go into one aspect very deeply.

Coaching and therapy work well together and serve different functions. I often do both at once myself. It’s worth being realistic about how much energy you have for introspection right now, and checking in with your therapist about starting coaching. But in general it can be an effective combination that support each other.

Yes to both!

Access: I always ask my clients about their access needs and wants. Adaptation is the rule not the exception. We meet over zoom or over the phone and we can adapt that format in any way that feels best and that technology allows. Some adaptations include: camera off, fidgeting, doodling, shared whiteboard for brainstorming, pacing and moving about, laying down, automated subtitles and more. My goal is to make this a place to unmask.
Inclusion: I understand how important it is that the folks to whom we entrust our care honour and embrace our full humanity. That’s basic human decency. And so is being LGBTQ2S+ affirming, and respectful of the global majority (aka BIPOC folks). I am a white, disabled hetero, cis woman so naturally my default POV reflects that. But I’m always working to expand and challenge that POV and to learn. I can’t promise you perfect safety (no one can) but I can promise you a relational approach, humility and self-reflection.
